It's mid-September in the year 2008 for those of you who insist on using the Gregorian calendar, but for those of us who happen to be in Asia right now, it's the middle of the eighth lunar month of the Chinese calendar. And that means it's party time. Put another way, it's the time of the Mid-Autumn Festival which is also known as the Moon Festival. And the moon is indeed full.
As far as I can tell, it seems to be a great time for people to take a break from work, the heat, or whatever. Seems pretty mellow. In Seoul, the weather was awesome a couple of days ago. But here in Hong Kong--whew! It's hot and muggy during the day. I took some pics, but it has been really hazy and I don't have any filters, so the shots were not great. Any posted pix will be harvested from the Web.
A big ole honkin' storm named Ike just hit the Gulf coast of the US and here in Asia, a similar storm just hit Taiwan. Although we could see the storm clouds en route, our flights were not adversely affected. Pretty smooth sailing all things considered.
